יגב נולד ב-23/1/1989, בן בכור לאורן ואסתר, אח גדול לנופר ויובל, בן זוג של רימון, בן דוד, נכד, אחיין וחבר טוב.
יגב גדל וחי בקיבוץ נירים, שם נישא לרימון והקים את ביתו.
יגב היה מוסיקאי מוכשר, ניגן על הרבה כלים: גיטרה, צ'לו, אורגן, חליל, קלימבה ועוד. הוא תמיד חיפש כלי נגינה חדשים ומעניינים, הוא בנה ויצר עם יובל, אחיו הצעיר, כלי נגינה חדשים ומיוחדים.
יגב היה אדם רגיש לחברה שסביבו, הוא ידע לראות את העולם כפי שהוא, עם הטוב ועם הרע, נפש שידעה לא לשפוט את האחר אלא להושיט יד חומלת.
יגב אהב לקרוא והיה אוטודידקט, למד כל נושא שעניין אותו: שירה, טבע, פילוסופיה, פוליטיקה, מוסיקה ועוד.
יגב אהב בעלי חיים וגידל יחד עם רימון כלבים וחתולים נטושים.
יגב היה הרבה דברים, אבל הוא גם היה אחד מסמלי ההפקרה של השבעה באוקטובר.
יגב נחטף חי מהבית בקיבוץ נירים יחד עם רימון, ששבה בעסקה הראשונה. יגב נשאר במנהרות החמאס ונרצח עם חבריו למנהרה על ידי מחבלי החמאס, כשהמנהרה בה שהו הופגזה.
יגב הובא לקבורה באוגוסט 2024 בקיבוץ נירים.
ביום ההולדת של יגב, היה ברור שנכון ליגב ולנו לעשות מעשה חסד לאנשים שנחשבים מוחלשים ולעיתים אף שקופים בחברה שלנו, לחלוק איתם את יום ההולדת בתקווה גדולה להשבת יגב וכל החטופים. גילינו תוך כדי הפעילות את המשמעות המחזקת של העשייה לטובת האחר בתקופה קשה ומאתגרת.
הידיעה הקשה על יגב הכתה בנו. מתוך השבר והכאב החלטנו שאנחנו ממשיכים במיזם, ממשיכים "לאורו של יגב": אנחנו מחלקים עוגות, ארוחות חמות, ציוד חם.
גילינו שהמפגש והשיח עם אוכלוסיות מוחלשות, שהן בדרך כלל שקופות, מביא לחיבורים מרגשים. אנו מקבלים מהם תמיכה, עידוד ומשמעות לדרכנו. כל סיור ברחוב מעלה בנו הרבה מחשבות על הדרך שבחרנו להנציח את יגב.
ליגב היה לב פתוח ורגיש, לב לא שיפוטי, לב שיודע לראות אנשים, עיניים שהיו פקוחות למראות הקשים ברחוב, מראות של אנשים בקשיים שלהם, בתחתית חייהם. יגב ידע שצריך לראות את האנשים, את כולם, גם את מי שפחות נעים לנו.
אנו זוכרים וכואבים את יגב בעשיית טוב, זוכרים את החמלה והרגישות שלו ומנסים לעשות טוב בתוך הרע, לשנות את פני החברה שלנו בעשייה.

יוזמת "אוקטובר הבא" (“Next October”) היא מיזם חזוני שנועד לרתום את החדשנות הישראלית להנצחת זכרם של מי שנפלו ונרצחו במלחמת אוקטובר 2023 מול חמאס. אוקטובר הבא היא התשובה הנכונה של העולם המערבי הנאור לרוע שמייצגים רוצחי החמאס האכזריים שפתחו במלחמה הזו. יוקמו יותר מ-1,400 חברות סטארט-אפ, שיפתחו מוצרים ושירותים חדשניים שיופצו ברחבי העולם ויתרמו את חלקם ליצירת עולם טוב יותר.
Yagev was born on 23 January 1989, the eldest son of Oren and Esther, big brother to Nofar and Yuval, Rimon's partner, a cousin, a grandson, a nephew and a good friend.
Yagev grew up and lived on Kibbutz Nirim, where he married Rimon and made his home.
Yagev was a gifted musician who played many instruments: guitar, cello, organ, flute, kalimba and more. He was always looking for new and interesting instruments, and with Yuval, his younger brother, he built and created new and unique ones.
Yagev was sensitive to the people around him. He could see the world as it is, with the good and the bad, a soul that knew not to judge others but to reach out a compassionate hand.
Yagev loved to read and was self-taught. He learned every subject that interested him: poetry, nature, philosophy, politics, music and more.
Yagev loved animals, and together with Rimon he raised abandoned dogs and cats.
Yagev was many things, but he also became one of the symbols of the abandonment of October 7.
Yagev was abducted alive from his home on Kibbutz Nirim together with Rimon, who came back in the first deal. Yagev remained in the Hamas tunnels and was murdered by Hamas terrorists together with his companions in the tunnel, when the tunnel they were held in was bombed.
Yagev was laid to rest in August 2024 at Kibbutz Nirim.
On Yagev's birthday it was clear that the right thing, for Yagev and for us, was an act of kindness for people who are seen as vulnerable, and sometimes even invisible, in our society: to share his birthday with them, in great hope that Yagev and all the hostages would come home. Along the way we discovered how much strength there is in doing for others in a hard and challenging time.
The terrible news about Yagev struck us. Out of the grief and the pain we decided to carry on with the project, to carry on "in Yagev's light": we hand out cakes, hot meals and warm gear.
We discovered that meeting and talking with vulnerable people, who usually go unseen, brings moving connections. We receive support, encouragement and meaning for our path from them. Every round on the street raises many thoughts about the way we chose to commemorate Yagev.
Yagev had an open and sensitive heart, a heart that did not judge, a heart that knew how to see people, eyes that were open to the hard sights on the street, sights of people in their struggles, at the lowest point of their lives. Yagev knew that we must see people, all of them, even those we are less comfortable with.
We remember Yagev and grieve for him by doing good. We remember his compassion and his sensitivity, and we try to do good within the bad, to change the face of our society through action.
